  • Tincture, glycerite, capsules? Which is the right product for me?
The original Moon Drops tincture is the fastest acting and strongest formula. It doesn't taste great, so it's best to add your dose to a small amount of water or juice. The Moon Drops Glycerite is made with no alcohol, but made with vegetable glycerine and tastes sweet, so it can be taken directly, or can also be added to water or juice. It is slightly less potent than the tincture, so you may need a little bit more for the same effect. Moon Drops capsules take a little bit longer to kick in than the liquid versions, but they are an easy and familiar way to take your herbs.
  • How do I find the right dose with herbal medicine?
In herbal medicine, we use a concept called “Pulse Dosing”. Everyone is unique, and there are many factors that can influence how well the herbs are absorbed in your body, and your dose may even vary from day to day. Start with a small dose, 2 droppers full. Then, wait 15-20 minutes and see how you feel. If you are not feeling full relief, take another dose, maybe increase to 3 droppers full. Then wait another 15 minutes. You can take up to 4 doses in an hour as needed to relieve symptoms. Then wait at least an hour. You may repeat later in the day as needed. As you use Moon Drops more, you’ll get a better sense of dosing that is right for you, and will be able to fine tune your dosing. But remember, you may find that it varies from day to day, based on how strong your symptoms are, how stressed you are, whether you are well hydrated, etc. When in doubt, start slow and low and you can always increase as you go.
  • How do I take a tincture?
To take a dose: Fill the dropper by squeezing the top while submerged in the liquid to fill up the dropper to 1 ml, which is about 20 drops. A “full dropper” wont be all the way full to the top, and as your product gets low, you may need two half droppers to get to 1 full ml. A dose is 2-3 droppers full. If taking the alcohol tincture, add your Moon Drops to a glass and add a small about of water or juice, and drink. If you are using the alcohol-free glycerite, you can either add to water or juice, or you may prefer to put the drops directly in your mouth straight. Please watch our video below:
  • What is a tincture?
Tinctures are a highly concentrated liquid extract of herbal medicine. A standard tincture is usually made from alcohol, distilled water and herbs. Glycerites are also a highly concentrated liquid extract, but they are made with vegetable glycerine, water and the herb to make an alcohol-free extract.
  • Why take herbs in tincture form?
Tinctures are fast acting, effective and bioavailable, meaning that they are very easy for the body to absorb Highly concentrated herbal extracts, so you only need small amounts and can customize the dose as needed Broad spectrum of beneficial phytochemicals Herbal tinctures have a long shelf life and don’t degrade potency over time Clean and natural ingredients
  • Is the original tincture safe for my young daughter?
The original tincture formula does contain alcohol, but the amount in a dose is VERY small, about the same amount of alcohol as in a very ripe banana. If you want to reduce the alcohol content, you can put a dose into a cup and add a bit of boiling water. This will reduce around 20% of the alcohol in just a few minutes and bring the alcohol content in a 5ml dose down to 00.18 of a unit of alcohol. Another option would be to choose our Alcohol Free Glycerite formula.
